Jaap Oude Mulders is a postdoctoral researcher, studying employers’ and employees’ attitudes and behavior regarding work at later ages, prolonging working lives, and retirement. With a background in sociology and economics, he is interested in how changing contexts and social forces shape attitudes and behavior regarding employment after age 50. He has published about these topics in journals such as The Gerontologist, Ageing & Society, Journal of Aging & Social Policy, Innovation in Aging, and Work, Aging and Retirement, and has also published extensively in Dutch for a more general audience. He coordinated the 2017 and 2019 surveys held among Dutch employers on the topic of longer working lives. He is an editorial board member of The Gerontologist and is an editor of Demos.
