Marcel Lubbers is senior researcher in NIDI’s theme group ‘Migration and Migrants’ and affiliated as professor of the sociology of inclusion of immigrants at the Department of Sociology at the University of Groningen. He is also professor of inclusion and exclusion of immigrants at the Department of Sociology at the Radboud University. In his research he answers questions about (recent) immigrant integration, for which he coordinated the longitudinal New Immigrant Survey (NIS2NL). He studies societies’ responses to immigration and nationalism and its relation to immigrant integration. He has been recipient of various NWO and Norface grants and published internationally in journals of sociology, demography, political science and ethnic and migration studies. He is associate editor of the European Sociological Review.
