Anna Tort-Carrera was a PhD candidate at NIDI and the University of Groningen. Her research focused on the impact of neighbourhood effects and socio-economic status on health over individual life courses. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Girona and a Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Sustainability with a major in Ecological Economics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Her research interests are mental health, public health economics, health inequalities, socio-demographic inequalities and environmental injustice.
1 October 2026 she will defend her doctoral thesis entitled ‘Place, peers, and mental health: A life course perspective on neighbourhood and social interaction effects in the northern Netherlands‘ at the University of Groningen.
As of May 2026 she is no longer employed at NIDI.
