Sören Tumeltshammer is a sociologist interested in how organisations shape social inequality, with a particular focus on gender, family, and the labor market. He is a PhD candidate in Sociology at the University of Groningen and the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI). He holds a Master of Arts in Sociology from the University of Bamberg and a Master of Research in Sociology & Demography from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.
Sören’s dissertation investigates how organisational policies and institutions influence gender inequality in the workplace, using corporate quota reforms as a policy setting. Drawing on linked employer-employee administrative data, he examines how the effects of these policies vary across organisations with different inequality regimes and among workers with different social characteristics, including migration background and parenthood. His research seeks to understand how social groups interact with organisational structures to shape labor market outcomes and the effectiveness of equality policies.
