Maria Eismann is a researcher at the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI) and is affiliated with the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (AISSR) of the University of Amsterdam. She holds degrees in social and organisational psychology from the University of Utrecht (BSc) and Leiden University (MSc).
Maria is interested in research on retirement, decision-making, the interplay between the work and family sphere, social influence, and couple dynamics.
In her PhD project “Late-Life Labour Market Decisions in a Couple Context”, Maria aims to unravel how older workers’ labour market behaviour and retirement decisions are influenced by their partners. Maria takes a multi-actor approach in which workers and their partners are both seen as active participants in the retirement decision-making process.
