Jos Slabbekoorn is a quantitative sociologist and postdoctoral researcher at NIDI. He obtained his PhD at Utrecht University (ICS) in 2026 with a dissertation titled Intersectional Disparities in Benefit Receipt: A Capital-Based Examination, combining intersectionality theory with a capital-based perspective on Dutch register data. His research concerns inequality in the welfare state and the labour market, and the methods needed to study it: Bayesian multilevel models (MAIHDA), longitudinal network analysis, and large administrative and survey datasets.
At NIDI he works in the European GRAPHIA project, where he co-develops a knowledge graph over the metadata of the Generations and Gender Programme. The aim is to connect topics, variables, waves, countries and publications so that survey data become easier to find, reuse and cite. He also serves on the editorial board of Mens en Maatschappij.
