Uncertainty of employment among many young adults increases due to rising flexibility on the labor market. In this project, we study how this insecurity about employment influences the decision to make long-term commitments to the family, for example by marrying or by having children. This is examined not only for Dutch natives, but also for various migrant groups. Analyses are based on large-scale register data from Statistics Netherlands.
