Professor Anne H. Gauthier is currently Director of the Generations and Gender Programme (GGP) and theme leader Data Infrastructure and Dissemination at the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI) and Professor of Comparative Family Studies at the University of Groningen. She holds a PhD in sociology from the University of Oxford and a Master degree in demography from the Université de Montréal. From 2001 to 2010 she held a position as Canada Research Chair in Comparative Family Policies at the University of Calgary. In 2017 she was awarded the IUSSP-Mattei Dogan Foundation Award for Comparative Research in Demography.
Her expertise lies in cross-national research on families including fertility decisions, family policies, parenting, and transitions to adulthood. She has written numerous scientific articles and books, and is also committed to bridging the link between academics and societal stakeholders. She has held academic positions in Canada, the USA, and the UK prior to moving to the Netherlands.
