Aart C. Liefbroer is senior researcher at NIDI. His research circles around changes in demographic behaviour of young adults. He studies leaving home, union formation and dissolution and fertility. He is interested in trends in these demographic behaviours, as well as their cross-national patterns, their determinants and their consequences. He is also committed to data collection, as is signaled by his involvement in the Generations and Gender Programme (GGP), the European Social Survey (ESS) and the Netherlands Kinship Panel Study (NKPS). He is a professor of Life Course Demography at the University Medical Center Groningen of the University of Groningen and a professor by special appointment of Demography of Young Adults and Intergenerational Transmission at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.
